All The Delicate Duplicates by Andy Campbell and Mez Breeze

All the Delicate Duplicates, created by Andy Campbell and Mez Breeze, is a mind-bending short video game that doubles as a quality piece of electronic literature. John’s world has been turned upside down by a group of odd objects from a relative named Mo. The objects turn out to be more than meets the eye, and they have magical properties. John is a single father and his daughter Charlotte finds the objects, also becoming influenced by them. What follows is a journey through time and space as a story is unraveled piece by piece. The game holds themes of familial relationships and mental health that play out in real time for the users. It has a strange atmosphere, combining a dreamy ethereal landscape with a normal house, a physical representation of how minds are becoming altered throughout the game. The work is an example of a much bigger platform for storytelling: video games. They have become a modern storytelling art, allowing interactive exploration of a narrative. All the Delicate Duplicates is a quality piece of narrative storytelling that also serves as a good representation of how powerful video games can be in electronic literature.
