"Directions" is a multimedia hypertext poem, taking its inspiration from the periodic table of the elements. It was created using HyperCard for the MacIntosh, and was published in The Eastgate Quarterly Review of Hypertext (Fall 1994, Volume 1, Number 4) along with “Quam artem exerceas?” by Giuliano Franco.
From the publisher’s description: “Rob Swigart calls Directions ‘a quasi-sentimental pseudo-scientific hyperpoem.’ Centered on the periodic table of the elements, Directions combines poetic fragments, visual images, prose narrative, and sound to create a deep, dazzling, and often startling work.”
